| Christopher Schranck is known for the organic shapes that characterize his paintings and drawings.
Chris' education includes a B.A. in fine art from Western State and further accredidation from Metro State College in Denver.
He has several group and solo exhibitions under his belt to date, amongst them group shows at the Limmer Gallery, New York. In Colorado Paris On the Platte, South Union Gallery, Metro State, Fresh Art Gallery, and the Zook Gallery just to name a few.
His work was recently selected for the Westmoreland Art Nationals 2003; he will also be featured in the 2003-2004 edition of New Art International.
Besides his life experiences and his imagination, Chris cites amongst his main influences the blown glass sculptures and installations of Dale Chihuly, the Cubism of Chagall and Picasso, the abstract Expression of Jackson Pollock and the surrealism of Salvador Dali.
"The main focus of my paintings and drawings is working with both geometric and organic shapes. I create a lot of work that is busy in order to eliminate a focal point, to coax the viewer into closer inspection."
"My imagery is derived from my imagination or by abstracting the images that I see. My works are either untitled or have vague titles in order to allow open interpretation."
"Contrast in my pieces is derived from texture, color and shape delivered through repetition for a harmonious result. With the overlapping of several layers of the above, an ambiguous sense of depth is achieved."
